MIPTV: UK distributor ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE) has closed multi-year output deals in China with VoD service Tencent and broadcaster Shanghai Media Group.

Tencent will air 100 hours of ITVSGE drama each year as part of the arrangement, including Golden Globe-winning music show Dancing On The Edge, detective series Endeavour and sitcom Miranda.

Shanghai Media Group will acquire 120 hours of programming each year of the deal across a range of genres, including Cook Me The Money, Hell’s Kitchen USA and Dancing On Ice UK. The shows will air on International Channel Shanghai.

Fellow Chinese VoD service Sohu has acquired US prison drama Rectify (6×60′), while Thailand-based pay TV broadcaster Next Step has picked up 300 hours of factual and nature programming from ITVSGE. Titles include Too Cute!, Desert Seas and Big, Bigger, Biggest.

Hyeonza Hong, senior VP of sales in Asia for ITVSGE, said the firm’s portfolio of shows “fulfilled the increased demand for quality content from the growing number of digital and pay TV providers in China in particular.”
